The countries of Central Asia have urged the UN Secretary-General to consider the establishment of a warning system for transboundary emergency situations. This appeal was a focal point of discussion at the recent regional forum-meeting of emergency department heads from the participating states, held in Almaty.

During this meeting, there was extensive discussion and subsequent approval of an initiative to develop a digital atlas highlighting transboundary risks within the Central Asian countries. The initiative was showcased using the ongoing development of the "Digital Security Passport and Interactive Map - Digital Atlas of Risks in the Republic of Kazakhstan" as an example.

Representatives from Central Asian country delegations, UN agencies, donors, as well as individuals from international and non-governmental organizations, actively participated in the forum. The primary goal of the gathering was to facilitate the exchange of information and experiences, deliberate on the regional situation, and identify key challenges amidst the frequent occurrence of extreme weather and climate events that significantly endanger economic and social development.
