No fees for textbook rental in schools in 2025 in Uzbekistan

In 2025, students in schools will continue to receive textbooks free of charge. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

According to the report, a total of 1.5 trillion soums was allocated from the state budget in 2024 to provide 83.2 million copies of textbooks and exercise books for students. Of this amount, 435.5 billion soums (36%) were used for exercise books, which are printed annually.

For 2025, it is planned to fully cover the costs of producing 81 million copies of textbooks and exercise books using state budget funds.

“The funds provided for in the state budget for 2025 will allow us to fully cover the need to provide students with textbooks and exercise books in the new academic year,” the report says.

As a result, no additional fees will be charged to parents for renting textbooks and exercise books.

It is worth recalling that in the draft budget for 2025-2027, the Ministry of Economy and Finance had previously stated that financing the full publication of textbooks and exercise books from the state budget was reducing parental responsibility and attention toward textbooks in Uzbekistan.
