Lavrov to visit Tashkent for talks with Mirziyoyev

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay an official visit to Tashkent on April 22–23. The announcement was made on April 17 by Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a briefing.

"On April 22–23, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan," Zakharova said.

She noted that during his visit, Lavrov is scheduled to hold meetings with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as conduct detailed negotiations with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov.

The Uzbek side has not yet released any official information regarding Lavrov’s visit or the scheduled meetings.

For reference, Lavrov last visited Uzbekistan in April 2023 to participate in a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), held in Samarkand.
