33498A case has been initiated against the "Korzinka" supermarket chain. This was reported by the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection.
It has been observed that the supermarket chain uses misleading or potentially misleading phrases in its advertising, such as "The cheapest prices for daily shopping," "The cheapest price – at Korzinka," and "...Come for the most effective!".
The Committee's statement notes that an investigation into the information in these advertisements revealed the introduction of a catalog under the promotion, which includes a specific quantity of products for daily needs.
Furthermore, the prices of the products listed in this catalog were compared with the prices of similar products in various supermarket chains and farmer's markets. The comparison was based on the total price of the basket (catalog) rather than the individual prices of each item.
In particular, it was found that the prices of some products advertised as the "cheapest" were higher than those of the same products sold in other supermarkets and farmer's markets.
"Such advertising can be considered misleading or likely to mislead users. Therefore, a case has been initiated against 'ANGLESEY FOOD' LLC for violating the requirements of Article 5, Part 1 of Article 16 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan 'On Advertising,' and Part 1 of Article 6 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan 'On Consumer Protection,'" the statement reads.
It is worth noting that earlier, the Competition Committee had initiated a case against the "Bukhara Regional Electric Networks Company" JSC concerning additional charges related to the "Bahouddin Naqshband" memorial complex in the Bukhara region.
