Customs officers at the "Gishtkoprik" border customs post in the Tashkent region have seized 717 deer antlers from individuals attempting to smuggle them into Uzbekistan. The regional customs department reported the discovery.

During a routine customs inspection, officials found 600 antlers in the cargo compartment of a vehicle. These antlers were neither declared on the customs form nor mentioned during the oral inquiry. In a separate case, when inspecting the luggage of a pedestrian entering the country, 117 antlers were discovered hidden in two bags.

Expert analysis from the Institute of Zoology at the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan confirmed that the seized antlers belong to a deer species. Investigations are ongoing.

It is important to note that deer are native to Eurasian countries and are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which designates endangered species.

In a related incident, it was previously reported that a citizen was detained at the "Yallama" border post in the Tashkent region for attempting to smuggle an air rifle and 1,500 rounds of ammunition into Uzbekistan.
