Wages, pensions, benefits, and scholarships in Uzbekistan will be increased by 10 percent. This was announced on June 3 by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov during his address to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
According to Kuchkarov, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on June 2 approving a 10 percent increase in the salaries, pensions, benefits, and scholarships of employees in budget-funded organizations. He noted that the adjustment is aimed at keeping incomes in line with inflation.
Comparative data from the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee shows that, as of September last year, the average nominal monthly wage in Kazakhstan stood at \$817.2—nearly double that of Uzbekistan (\$437.8) and Kyrgyzstan (\$411.2). Tajikistan ranked lowest, with an average wage of \$242.8, 3.4 times lower than in Kazakhstan.
