Cases of labor migrants being recruited for armed conflicts in certain countries have increased, and the Migration Agency has issued a warning.

Participation in military conflicts abroad entails legal liability, and the following are strictly prohibited:

  • Approaching conflict zones

  • Taking part in military operations

  • Joining foreign armies, security services, military judiciary, or other law enforcement agencies

  • Giving consent to recruitment efforts carried out by suspicious individuals, groups, or institutions

Serving as a mercenary for foreign armies is punishable by three to five years of imprisonment under Article 154-1 (enlisting in the military service, security, police, military justice bodies, or other similar agencies of foreign countries) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Migrants who encounter suspicious offers or situations are urged to immediately contact diplomatic missions, consulates, or the representative offices of the Migration Agency.

“Save your life and freedom. Act strictly within the law!” the statement said.

Earlier, within the framework of the “Хочу жить” (I Want to Live) program, established with the assistance of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry and the Main Intelligence Directorate, the names of 992 Uzbek citizens who had signed contracts with the Russian armed forces were revealed.
