According to the Cabinet of Ministers' decisions No. 383 (May 7, 2019) and No. 221 (April 14, 2020), significant projects are underway to enhance the region's drinking water and wastewater services. These include a $150 million preferential loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for reconstructing the Pitnak drinking water treatment plant. This plant, which currently has a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters, will be expanded to 400,000 cubic meters with an additional $30 million investment. This expansion aims to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to the Gurlan, Yangibozor, and Shovot districts. A new 50,000 cubic meter drinking water treatment facility will also be constructed in the Gurlan district. Additionally, plans include reconstructing the Khiva Pitnak sewage systems and building new sewage systems in the Gurlan district. These efforts also cover wages, electricity, tax payments, foreign loans, and costs for ongoing and capital repairs and modernization of the system.
