Tax official arrested in Khorezm for fake work certificate scheme

A tax official in Khorezm region was caught taking a bribe of 12.5 million soums in exchange for issuing a false work experience certificate, the State Security Service (SSS) reported.

According to the SSS, the chief specialist of the State Unitary Enterprise “Tax Service” in Gurlan district, using his position, told two local citizens—through his acquaintances in tax offices—that he would calculate their salaries for the period from January to June of this year and issue them work certificates, despite the fact that they had never been employed.

During an operation carried out by the Khorezm regional department of the SSS in cooperation with the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office, the specialist was detained while receiving 12.5 million soums for the service.

A criminal case has been initiated against him, and an investigation is underway.

Earlier, in Bukhara, a tax inspector was detained for demanding \$400 in exchange for lifting a property ban on the head of an LLC.
