A senior investigator from the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau in Khorezm was arrested for soliciting a bribe, according to the State Security Service.

The investigator, who is part of the Investigation and Administrative Operations Department of the Khorezm regional branch, allegedly demanded $2,000 from a citizen in exchange for securing employment within the Bureau. The incident took place during an operation conducted by State Security Service officers in the city of Urgench.

The official is accused of using his position to pressure the citizen, who resides in Shovot district, to pay the bribe through authorized colleagues. The investigator reportedly accepted $1,800 of the requested amount.

A criminal case has been opened against the individual under Article 25,168 (Fraud), Part 3, Clause “c,” and Article 211 (Bribery), Part 1 of the Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing.

This follows a previous case in which National Guard officers in Tashkent city and region were detained for accepting bribes in exchange for securing employment within the National Guard system.
