Bribe-taking officials detained in Khorezm and Fergana regions

Two officials were apprehended for bribery in the Khorezm and Fergana regions during an operation, as reported by the State Security Service.

In the Khorezm region, a chief specialist from the Transport Department, who had gained the trust of an entrepreneur, transferred 960 square meters of vacant land belonging to another citizen and an LLC specializing in transport services in the city of Urgench to his name. He demanded 135 thousand US dollars in exchange for issuing the necessary documents for the construction of a multi-story residential building. The official was detained by law enforcement when he received an advance payment of 80 thousand US dollars. A criminal case has been initiated under fraud and bribery charges, and investigations are ongoing.

In the Fergana region, the chief specialist of the Yozyavon district department of the Agro-Industrial Complex Control Inspectorate was caught with material evidence while accepting 8,700 US dollars. He had used his position to prepare technical passports and labels for non-existent construction equipment in order to boost the rating of a contractor company in the "Shaffof Qurilish" national information system and submit it for tender. A criminal case has also been filed against this individual for fraud and bribery, and investigations are ongoing.

It is worth noting that a senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Chortok district in Namangan region was previously apprehended for taking a bribe.
