In Japan, a man stabbed his boss to death after becoming dissatisfied with the size of his annual bonus, The Japan Times reported.

According to police, the suspect, 45-year-old Masahiro Yamanaka, worked as a sales manager at the company. During questioning, he admitted to the crime, stating that he was unhappy with his relationship with his superior, Akihiro Kawashima, particularly over the amount of his annual bonus.

Investigators said Yamanaka entered the victim’s apartment, first sprayed insecticide into his face, and then stabbed him multiple times in the thigh and neck.

A forensic examination found that Kawashima had more than 10 stab wounds to the neck, abdomen, and thigh. Defensive injuries were also identified on his fingers, indicating that the victim attempted to resist the attack. Bloodstains were discovered in several rooms of the apartment, including the bathroom. Investigators believe the suspect attempted to wash away the blood after the attack.

Police also suspect that Yamanaka changed his clothes both before and after the crime. Security camera footage shows him leaving his home dressed in black, entering the victim’s building wearing a white jacket and different shoes, and later changing clothes again before leaving the area. According to investigators, he locked the apartment door using a key left inside and then dropped the key into a mailbox before fleeing.
