Flight shortages deter tourists from visiting Khiva

Most of the tourists who came to Bukhara and Samarkand are turning back due to a lack of flights to Khiva. This was announced today, February 7, at a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss key tasks for the development of service sectors.

The meeting highlighted the diversity of approaches among ministers and governors to service development and the lack of joint work.

It was noted that although it was planned to bring 6 million local and foreign tourists to Khorezm, the number of passengers transported to Khorezm on 52 flights and 23 train services per week does not exceed 800,000 per year. Most of the tourists who came to Bukhara and Samarkand are turning back due to a lack of flights to Khiva.

It was also reported that the number of private clinics has increased threefold in seven years, and many clinics are dissatisfied with the fact that the registration of imported branded medical equipment takes up to 6 months, and are proposing a simplified registration procedure for equipment imported from abroad.

It is reported that entrepreneurs are spending months on accreditation to open medical laboratories in the regions. There are many obstacles. According to preliminary estimates, there are 10 such entrepreneurs in each region. They are ready to invest $1 million and open a laboratory.

We recall that earlier it was reported that 24,545 tourists from the United States of America came to Uzbekistan for a trip in 2024.
