The individual who struck twin brothers in Khiva, leading to their demise, has been handed a 9-year prison sentence, as disclosed by the Road Traffic Safety Department of Khorezm Region DIA. 

In December 2023, in Khiva district, a driver operating a Cobalt vehicle while intoxicated collided with twin brothers and another minor, subsequently fleeing the scene. The collision claimed the lives of brothers Hasan and Husan on the spot.

The accused individual admitted, "On December 15, I consumed alcohol at a wedding and decided to drive. Unfortunately, I struck the children on the roadside on my way home and then left the scene. I deeply regret my actions and extend my apologies to the families of the children.

As per the ruling of the Khiva District Court on criminal cases, the defendant was found culpable under Article 266 (breach of traffic safety regulations or vehicle operation) and Article 117 (endangerment) of the Criminal Code, resulting in a sentence of 9 years and 1 month of imprisonment.

It's worth recalling that on March 22, a Cobalt car veered off the road and overturned in the Bogot district of the Khorezm region.
