Procedure for charity collections set

The procedure for collecting sponsorship donations in Uzbekistan has been clearly defined. This is stated in the law “on introducing amendments and additions to the legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” adopted on August 21.

According to the law, the collection of sponsorship donations will be carried out for the benefit of specific recipients within a pre-announced period.

The violation of the procedure for collecting sponsorship donations:

• for citizens, from 3 to 5 times the base calculated value (from 1 million 236 thousand to 2 million 60 thousand soums),
• for officials, from 5 to 7 times the base calculated value (from 2 million 60 thousand to 2 million 884 thousand soums), which will result in the imposition of a fine.

It is worth noting that last month, three individuals were detained for fraudulently collecting money from citizens under the pretext of conducting interviews, allegedly for purposes such as mosque construction and “aid for the disabled.”
