An Uzbek national who was on an international wanted list in connection with a fraud case has been detained in Croatia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the ministry, coordinated actions by the National Central Bureaus of Interpol of Uzbekistan and Croatia resulted in the successful extradition from Zagreb of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan who was internationally wanted for committing fraud.
The extradition was carried out in close cooperation with Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Zagreb, as well as with comprehensive assistance from the Consulate of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Hungary.
“The operation confirms the effectiveness of international police cooperation and the parties’ commitment to the principle of the inevitability of punishment for crimes committed,” the statement said.
It is worth recalling that earlier, at Tbilisi International Airport in Georgia, the country’s competent authorities handed over to representatives of the Interpol National Central Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan two individuals who were internationally wanted on charges of large-scale fraud and human trafficking.
