Kamola Mahmudova passes away after battle with serious illness

Kamola Mahmudova, a prominent Uzbek specialist and the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Azerbaijan, passed away at the age of 48 in London following a prolonged battle with cancer.

Born in Tashkent in 1976, Mahmudova was an active participant in numerous educational, social, and charitable projects, including Khan Academy, Good Deed (Ezgu Amal), and Green Bukhara. She pursued business administration at Clare University and was instrumental in founding charitable organizations such as a private university, the International Compliance Association in the UK, and the Eurasian chapter of ACAMS.

In 2020, she was awarded the "Friendship" (Dostlik) Order by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Her achievements were also featured in the film "Uzbekistonlik", which highlights successful Uzbeks abroad.

The funeral for Kamola Mahmudova will take place today, September 27, in London.

Additionally, it is worth noting that renowned Uzbek poet Bibisora Turobova, known for her poem "If I die, let the nightingale read my funeral", and a former deputy governor of Samarkand and director of an orphanage, also passed away recently.
