Minister of Poverty Alleviation and Employment was dismissed

Uzbekistan's Minister of Poverty Alleviation and Employment, Behzod Musayev, has been relieved of his duties. Botir Erkinovich Zohidov has been appointed as the new minister. This announcement was made on September 23 during a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, focused on developing the construction industry and the production of construction materials.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized that the current performance of the Ministry of Employment is insufficient to achieve the country’s ambitious goals.

Behzod Musayev has held the position since December 2022. His successor, Botir Zohidov, brings 20 years of experience in the banking sector. Born in 1982 in Tashkent, Zohidov holds degrees from the Tashkent Financial Institute (2003) and the Banking and Finance Academy (2008). 

Zohidov previously served as head of the Central Bank's special department for currency exchange and conversion operations. In August 2017, he became Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank, and by 2020, he was promoted to First Deputy Chairman. Additionally, he has held the position of mayor in the Shaykhontohur district of Tashkent.
