In the Kyzylorda region of Kazakhstan, two citizens have become victims of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever due to bites from dangerous tick insects. This was reported by the "Kazinform" agency.

According to the report, a 77-year-old resident of the Yangikurgan district of Kyzylorda region, which is close to the Navoi region of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and a 51-year-old resident of the Shiyeli region were admitted to the hospital with symptoms of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever but unfortunately died in the hospital.

Since the beginning of the year, more than 600 citizens have sought medical attention in regional medical institutions for tick bites. Among them, 23 cases required hospitalization for Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever, with the diagnosis confirmed in 8 cases.

"Personal areas, livestock, and animals are disinfected within 12 hours after each reported case. All contacts will be under medical supervision for 14 days. Generally, ticks are most active during May, June, and July. Therefore, we urge residents of the region to exercise caution and seek immediate medical attention in the event of an insect bite," says Aliya Abdiqaimova, deputy head of the sanitary-epidemiological control department of the Kyzylorda region.

For your information, ticks awaken from hibernation in spring and start searching for food. This is the time when optimal conditions for their reproduction and survival occur. Ticks are often found in the fur of pets. More than 100 species of ticks are known, some of which are dangerous. Their bites can cause infectious diseases and even death.
