Kazakhstan’s Aviation Administration has temporarily banned domestic airlines from operating flights over Iranian territory, as well as within Iran’s airspace and nearby areas, amid rising threats to flight safety in the region. Tengri Travel reported on the decision.

According to the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, the measures are preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers and flight crews. At present, all flights operated by Kazakh airlines are being carried out by avoiding potentially hazardous areas.

“The situation remains under constant monitoring by the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan. Further decisions will be made depending on changes in the level of threat,” the statement said.

It was noted that the relevant order has been published on the authority’s official website. The duration of the restriction has not been specified, and the ban will remain in effect until further notice.

The restrictions may affect the routes and duration of certain flights. However, aviation authorities emphasized that passenger safety remains the top priority. Airlines will provide additional information regarding any potential schedule changes.

Earlier, the US Navy’s aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln arrived in the Middle East amid tensions involving Iran. In addition, the deployment of a THAAD missile defense system battery near the region is expected in the coming days.
