A citizen of Uzbekistan wanted in Kazakhstan for over a decade on large-scale fraud charges has been detained in Moscow, according to the Kazakh Interior Ministry.
The report states that Kazakh criminal police, in cooperation with Russian law enforcement, apprehended the suspect in the center of Moscow. The individual had been on the international wanted list since 2012.
“Thirteen years ago, the suspect used forged documents to fraudulently withdraw a large sum of money from the account of a bank in Kazakhstan. Following the crime, the suspect fled the country, prompting an international search,” the ministry said.
At the request of Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry, Russian authorities approved the extradition of the suspect. Kazakh law enforcement officers are currently working with the individual.
It is worth noting that two women previously on the international wanted list were recently extradited to Tashkent from Muscat, Oman, under the supervision of Uzbekistan’s Interpol National Central Bureau.
