As we reported earlier, houses were flooded due to increased pressure in the canal in the Tortkol district of Karakalpakstan.  In connection with the situation, a criminal case was opened against the officials of the district irrigation department and the department of irrigation networks.  The prosecutor's office of the Republic of Karakalpakstan was informed about this.

It is noted that on 24 February of this year, at around 3-4 a.m., houses and buildings in the area were damaged due to water pouring from the side (dam) of picket 192 on the inter-farm canal "Kalta minor-1" in Tortkol district.

As a result of the flood, the houses and auxiliary facilities of 7 citizens living in this area were damaged.  No one was injured in the incident.  By 7:00 a.m. on this day, the flood was removed and the yard areas were cleared of accumulated water.

Officials arrived at the scene and investigated the situation.  Heads of the regional sector and other officials have been given relevant tasks to eliminate the consequences of the flood.

In connection with this situation, the Tortkol district prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case under articles 203, 207, and 229 of the Criminal Code against the officials of the "Pakhta Arna Nayman" Irrigation Department and the Tortkol District Irrigation Department and others.

Experts were appointed to determine the damage caused to citizens within the framework of the criminal case.

"Currently, investigative efforts are being conducted to identify the culprits who caused the incident, and a legal decision will be made based on the results," The report said.
