10042Reports have spread on social networks about an infestation of locusts in the village of Otkamar in the Dehkanabad district of the Kashkadarya region (oblast). The press service under the agency of Plant Quarantine and Protection has issued an official statement on the situation.
It is noted that the investigation was carried out at the scene by the Kashkadarya regional department of the agency of Plant Quarantine and Protection and the service for the control of locusts and mulberry fly (Glyphodes pylaialis Walker).
It was found that the locusts in the spread videos are typical of the local and Moroccan species, and the local locusts do not pose a threat to crops. In addition, regular seasonal measures have been taken against the infestation of Moroccan locusts.
It is reported that to date, pest control works have been accomplished in the 87,980 hectares of agricultural lands in the Kashkadarya region, including 16,222 hectares in the Dehkanabad district. Agrotechnical measures are being taken to control these harmful insects. In particular, 25 tractor sprayers, 6 special vehicles with UMO-sprayers, 1 tricycle have been involved in the region and were involved in the decontamination process and hand-held decontamination processes are also underway.
