Videos have surfaced online showing a heated altercation between a Cobalt driver and road patrol officers in Guzar district, Kashkadarya region. Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has provided details about the incident, which occurred on April 14, 2025.

A road patrol officer noticed a parked Cobalt vehicle violating the “no stopping or parking” sign along the A-380 highway at its 2nd kilometer. Attempting to identify the driver, the officer made inquiries with nearby motorists. Shortly after, the driver returned to his vehicle, unlocked it, and began moving the car.

The officer asked the driver to provide his documents and informed him that parking in the location was prohibited. Instead of complying, the driver reversed the car and actively resisted the officer’s lawful demands.

“We tried to calm the driver and warned him to comply with the law,” the traffic officer stated.

Following the confrontation, the vehicle was impounded and taken to a penalty parking lot.

The driver later apologized publicly, stating, “I resisted the traffic police and tried to flee. Being forced out of the car angered me, and I acted out. I apologize to the public, and this will not happen again.”

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 219, Part 2 of the Criminal Code (Resistance to a representative of authority or a person fulfilling their civil duty). The driver has been detained under Article 221 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Grounds for Detention), and preliminary investigations are underway by the Guzar District Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, a driver in Tashkent operating a Malibu at high speed dragged a traffic officer on the car’s hood. The officer sustained injuries and was treated by medical professionals. A criminal case was opened under Article 219 of the Criminal Code by the Mirabad District Prosecutor’s Office.
