Infant-Selling Attempt in Qamashi Results in 2-Year Sentence for Mother

7937A woman from the Kamashi district of the Kashkadarya region attempted to sell her 3-day-old baby for 60 million UZS and has been sentenced to 2 years in prison by a court ruling. This was reported by the “Millar” program.
The woman, who gave birth to her first child—a baby girl—attempted to sell the infant to two women residing in the city of Karshi. She demanded 60 million UZS in exchange. She was caught by law enforcement officials while receiving 50 million UZS and $800 inside a Spark car.
The Criminal Court of Muborak district sentenced the mother to 2 years of imprisonment. Additionally, it was ordered that the baby, born in 2024, be placed in the regional children’s home in the Kitab district.
Earlier, in the Surkhandaryoaregion, a 23-year-old mother who attempted to sell her newborn child in 2024 was sentenced to 6 years in prison.
