A video showing a BYD car driving on the wrong side of the road and turning at a red light at an intersection has been widely circulated on social media. QALAMPIR.UZ contacted Kahramon Khudoyberganov, head of the information service of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate, for clarification.
According to Khudoyberganov, the capital’s Traffic Safety Department investigated the incident. It was revealed that the violator initially recorded the video to send to his family, but the children jokingly shared it on social networks. The incident took place in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent.
The driver admitted that the violations were committed in March of this year.
“Even though the car has already been sold, the violator was still held accountable,” Khudoyberganov said.
An administrative report was drawn up under Article 128-10 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (road hooliganism). As a result, the driver was deprived of the right to operate vehicles for up to two years and fined 25 times the base calculation amount, totaling 8 million 500 thousand soums.
It should be noted that earlier, during a videoconference on road safety and traffic congestion chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was announced that the “Chronic Violators” program would be launched. According to the program, if violations such as driving into oncoming traffic or running a red light are committed twice within a month, or speeding occurs five times, the fines will not be reduced for up to a year. If more than 10 such violations are recorded within a month, the driver’s license will be revoked for up to six months.
