Due to bad weather in Uzbekistan in December, planes were diverted to other airports 58 times.  Kamola Ikromova, press secretary of Uzbekistan Airways joint-stock company, gave information about this at a briefing held at the Information and Mass Communications Agency.

According to statistics, the airline made 2,290 scheduled flights.  925 of them were completed with delays.  As of 26 December, 1957 scheduled flights were made.  A total of 1136 of them were delayed.

It is noted that the main cause for the delay or failure of flights can be attributed to two reasons.  The first of which is caused by the airline, i.e. the plane is in need of maintenance, the aircraft arrives late from its destination, the flight is cancelled by the company.  The second reason is unfavorable weather conditions, or temporary closure of local airports.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions in December, planes were forced to divert to other airports 58 times.  In particular, Navoi – 13 times, Namangan – 8 times, Bukhara – 3 times, Samarkand – 14 times, Tashkent – 10 times, Fergana – 7 times.

It is reported that when flights are delayed or canceled by the airline, passengers are provided with water during a waiting period of more than 2 hours, and hot food during a waiting period of 4 to 6 hours.  If the waiting time exceeds 12 hours during the day and 6 hours at night, passengers will be provided with a hotel and hot food.

If flights are delayed or cancelled due to bad weather conditions, passengers have the right to get a full refund of their tickets from the place of purchase or to rebook them for another date free of charge.

If the departure and arrival terminal of the flights operated in the territory of Uzbekistan changes for various reasons, the passengers will be delivered to their destinations by the airline by ground transport.  If this process is not carried out, passengers will be compensated by the airline company in the amount of 25% based on the type of air ticket and the destination.

In case of a change of landing terminal in foreign countries, the airline is responsible for transporting passengers to their destination.

In case of changes in the flight time, hour, route and landing terminal, the airline’s contact center will send a message about this to the number and postal address that the passenger wrote down when purchasing the ticket before arriving at the airport.
