Four more Uzbeks die from counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul

The number of Uzbek citizens who have died from poisoning due to counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul, Turkey, has risen by four. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported this development on January 15.

According to the Consulate, the latest deaths, all men, were confirmed after consuming counterfeit alcohol. Diplomatic staff are in continuous contact with the Istanbul Health Department, Forensic Medical Examination Department, and law enforcement agencies to investigate the case.

The Consulate has urged all Uzbek citizens to exercise caution, prioritize personal safety, and contact the Consulate if necessary. The Consulate's response team is addressing inquiries through their phone numbers.

This tragic event comes after earlier reports indicated that the death toll from counterfeit alcohol had reached 19, including 6 Uzbek nationals. Additionally, two citizens of Turkmenistan were arrested on suspicion of producing counterfeit alcohol.
