Representative of Uzbekistan delivered Mirziyoyev's letter to Aliyev

Yesterday 16 May, the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a parliamentary delegation headed by speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nurdinjan Ismailov.  This is reported by the press service of the president of Azerbaijan.

It was noted that Nurdinjan Ismailov presented a congratulatory letter from the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of 28 May – Independence Day of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, it was stated that Azerbaijan was interested in cooperation with fraternal Uzbekistan, which is connected with historical, linguistic and cultural commonalities. Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of Uzbekistan becoming a full member of the Organization of Turkic States.

“President Ilham Aliyev also noted the successful cooperation of our countries in other international organizations, including the UN, OSCE, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Economic Cooperation Organization.  Our Head of State stressed that our country highly appreciates the attitude of brotherly Turkic states towards the issue of restoration of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”,-the reports says.

Also, at the meeting, the dynamics of bilateral multifaceted relations was highly appreciated and a wide range of opportunities for increasing bilateral trade turnover was noted.

During the cordial dialogue, the sides exchanged views on the consistent development of multilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, taking inter-parliamentary cooperation to a new level.  The meeting, held in an open and cordial atmosphere, also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
