An Uzbek citizen who was on the international wanted list through Interpol channels has been extradited from Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the ministry, the individual was wanted under Article 118, Part 2 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code for committing a sexual assault offense and has now been extradited to Uzbekistan.
The wanted individual was located in Georgia and detained as part of an international manhunt.
The extradition was carried out as a result of coordinated cooperation and joint оператив-search measures between Interpol offices of Uzbekistan and Georgia.
It was noted that this marks the third time in the past two months that Georgian authorities have extradited wanted Uzbek citizens.
The extradited individual was transported to Uzbekistan under the escort of Uzbek Interpol officers and handed over to law enforcement authorities to carry out further procedural actions and ensure accountability in accordance with current legislation.
It is worth noting that earlier, an Uzbek citizen wanted internationally on fraud charges was detained in Croatia.
