Bribery scheme to secure internal affairs positions uncovered

Individuals attempting to secure positions within internal affairs bodies through bribery have been detained in the Khorezm and Kashkadarya regions, according to a report from the State Security Service.

One case involved a former communications operator at the Tashkent City Department of Justice, born in 1992 in Urgench. This individual allegedly promised a resident of Khanka district employment in internal affairs through his official connections in exchange for money. He reportedly charged \$1,500 for placement in ordinary ranks and \$2,000 for officer-level positions.

During an operation carried out by the Khorezm Regional Department of the State Security Service, in cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office and internal affairs agencies, the justice employee was caught red-handed while receiving \$1,900 and 1,295,000 soums through an intermediary.

In a separate case in Kashkadarya, an employee of the National Guard’s Security Department in Karshi city was caught receiving \$2,000. The money was allegedly paid in exchange for securing a job at the regional internal affairs department for a resident of Koson district, using his network of official contacts. The illegal activity was halted by the State Security Service and the regional Internal Affairs Directorate.

Criminal cases have been opened in both incidents under Article 168 (fraud) and Article 28,211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code. Investigations are currently ongoing.

It is worth noting that similar offenses were recently uncovered involving a tax inspector in Khorezm region and a forensic center employee in Kashkadarya, both caught accepting bribes.
