New powers will be given to internal affairs bodies

32471The authorities of the internal affairs are given the authority to formalize materials on sending persons suffering from drug addiction to compulsory treatment. It was announced today, June 22, at the forty-second plenary session of the Senate.
The meeting discussed the Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Prevention and Treatment of Narcotic Diseases”.
It is noted that today there is a need to formalize materials for sending persons suffering from drug addiction to compulsory treatment not only based on the requests of drug addiction institutions, family members (relatives), but also on the initiative of internal affairs bodies.
In this regard, appropriate amendments are being made to this Law, which stipulates that internal affairs bodies are given the authority to issue materials on sending persons suffering from narcotic diseases to compulsory treatment, as well as the procedure for preparing these materials.
It is also determined that the state guarantees that citizens will undergo drug testing, counseling, diagnosis, outpatient and inpatient treatment of people suffering from drug addiction, and medical and social rehabilitation.
In addition, a norm is introduced that all clinical examinations related to the determination of the need for compulsory treatment of a person suffering from a narcological disease will be conducted in the narcology dispensary itself, and in necessary cases, in other medical institutions where relevant specialists are available.
