6338UN Secretary-General António Guterres is scheduled to tour Central Asian nations, specifically Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, beginning on June 29. This announcement was made by his press secretary Stephane Dujarric during a briefing in New York.
According to the press secretary, the Secretary-General will engage with heads of state and other government officials, review climate change projects, and interact with local activists. The trip will commence with a visit to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
Guterres is set to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana on July 4. In his address, he will stress the importance of reaffirming commitment to the multilateral principles outlined in the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, emphasizing that the pursuit of peace should be central to these efforts.
The UN website states that the Secretary General’s trip will conclude on July 7.
Previously, it was reported that António Guterres will visit Kyrgyzstan from July 1-3 at the invitation of the Kyrgyz President.
