Gulruhbegim Tohirjonova did not compete against Uzbekistan team

The 45th World Chess Olympiad is currently underway in Budapest, Hungary, where the women's team of Uzbekistan faced off against the American team in the 8th round. Notably, one of the key players for the U.S. team is Gulruhbegim Tohirjonova, a 25-year-old chess player originally from Uzbekistan.

In an interesting turn of events, Tohirjonova chose not to compete against her home country. She was scheduled to play on board 1 against Uzbekistan's Afruza Hamdamova but was replaced by her teammate, Karissa Shiven Yip.

As for the standings, the women's team of Uzbekistan is currently in 11th place after 7 rounds, while the men's team is performing well, holding the 3rd position in the competition.
