Uzbek grandmaster Gulruhbegim Tohirjonova, who recently won a prize at the 45th World Chess Olympiad as part of the United States women's team, may rejoin the Uzbek national team in the future. Alisher Sadullaev, head of the Uzbekistan Chess Federation, shared this information with QALAMPIR.UZ.

"We have extended an offer to Gulruhbegim and her family to return to Uzbekistan. I believe she is considering it. Uzbekistan needs Gulruhbegim because she has great potential. We would be delighted if she competed for Uzbekistan in the 2026 Olympics," Sadullaev said.

It should be noted that the 25-year-old Tohirjonova opted not to participate in the 8th round of the World Chess Olympiad on board 1, where she would have faced Afruza Hamdamova, a member of the Uzbekistan women's team.
