The World Boxing Association (WBA) has announced a promotional auction for the highly anticipated welterweight title fight between reigning champion Eimantas Stanionis of Lithuania and Uzbekistan's challenger Shahram Giyosov. This announcement, shared by the Professional Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan, is expected to intensify interest in the upcoming bout.

In September, the WBA ordered a match between Stanionis, the current welterweight titleholder, and Giyosov, a rising star and mandatory challenger. However, the negotiation period ended without an agreement on critical details such as the fight’s date, venue, and terms. As a result, the WBA has arranged an auction among promoters, scheduled for November 8, to finalize these aspects.

Giyosov, known for his aggressive style and resilience, earned his position after securing a decisive win over Mexican boxer Miguel Parra. In a closely contested 10-round fight, two judges awarded the win to Giyosov, pushing his professional record to an impressive 16-0.

Lithuania's Eimantas Stanionis, 30, holds a formidable record with 15 wins, including 9 by knockout. After a two-year hiatus, Stanionis returned to the ring in May, winning a unanimous decision over Venezuela’s fourth-ranked Gabriel Maestre, with scores of 117-111, 118-110, and 119-109.
