2003The teams of the Lithuanian World Boxing Association (WBA) champion Eimantas Stanionis and Shahram Giyosov, the mandatory contender for his belt, have agreed on a fight in the welterweight category. This was reported by the WBA on its website.
Terms of the deal have not yet been announced, and there is no longer an open promotional bid to arrange a fight between the two sides.
The date and venue of the fight is expected to be announced soon.
For reference, Stanionis, who has 15 wins and 9 knockouts in pro boxing, fought his last fight against Gabriel Maestre in early May and won by points. On July 31, Giyosov won over Miguel Parra with a split vote of the judges.
