3044Uzbekistan believes that the only viable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian issue is a peaceful resolution based on the principle of "two states for two peoples," President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated today, October 24, at the BRICS Plus summit in Kazan.
"We are deeply concerned about the escalating conflict in the Middle East, as this region has become a focal point of global crisis, drawing in neighboring countries and major powers," said Mirziyoyev.
"It is with heavy hearts that we witness the unprecedented humanitarian tragedy unfolding in Gaza and Lebanon. No political objective can justify the innocent loss of civilian lives, especially those of children," he emphasized.
The President stressed that an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to victims are crucial and must not be delayed.
Mirziyoyev also highlighted the situation in Afghanistan during his address.
"When discussing global and regional security, the issue of Afghanistan cannot be overlooked. Our shared responsibility is not to isolate the country but to assist the Afghan people and their current authorities in addressing socio-economic challenges, peaceful construction, and development," he said.
Additionally, the President pointed out that combating threats related to international terrorism within the BRICS framework remains a top priority.
"We must focus on preventing the spread of radicalization and extremist ideologies, especially among the youth," Mirziyoyev added.
The 16th BRICS summit, an important event under Russia's chairmanship, is being held in Kazan from October 22 to 24, with representatives from over 30 countries in attendance.
On October 23, President Mirziyoyev arrived in Kazan to participate in the summit. He held meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff. Additionally, he met with Rustam Minnikhanov, the Chairman of the Republic of Tatarstan. During this meeting, Mirziyoyev was honored with the Republic of Tatarstan’s state award, the Order of "Friendship," which was presented by Minnikhanov.
