Deadly fire erupts at gas station in Fergana: one dead, several injured

6023On December 17, a devastating fire broke out at a gas station in Fergana city, Fergana region. Videos circulating on social media captured the terrifying moment of a massive explosion, thick black smoke rising into the sky, a car near the gas station completely engulfed in flames, and a man wearing a black mask with a severed arm lying face down on the ground.
Shortly after the incident, the regional Emergency Situations Department employee reported that the situation was under control and that firefighters were working to extinguish the fire.
According to additional information from the department, the fire started at 1:43 p.m. at a multi-fuel "AYOQSH" and "AGQSH" gas station located in the "Yangi Yul" neighborhood of Fergana city, on A. Yassaviy Street. The cause of the incident was a violation of technological processes and non-compliance with technical safety rules during the discharge of liquefied gas, which led to a flash and the subsequent fire seen in the videos.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 1:47 p.m., managed to contain the fire by 2:02 p.m., and fully extinguished it within 10 minutes.
As of 6:00 p.m., it was reported that one citizen had died as a result of the fire, while four others sustained injuries. Additionally, eight people remain under medical supervision. However, the Ministry of Health has not yet provided an official statement regarding the incident.
