The authorities have intercepted the smuggling of powerful psychotropic drugs valued at 6 billion soums in the Ferghana region, the State Security Service reported.

During a rapid investigative operation, it was discovered that unknown individuals had left a large quantity of psychotropic substances at the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state border in the area of Polmon neighborhood, near the city of Quvasoy.

The preliminary investigations revealed that a total of seven boxes smuggled from Kyrgyzstan contained 53,522 units of ’’Regapen’’ and 20,000 units of ’’Zardex,’’ with a combined value of 6,019,980,000 soums.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 246 (smuggling), part 1, and Article 251¹ (manufacturing, distributing, advertising, or displaying products that promote substances with strong effects not classified as narcotics, their analogs, or psychotropic substances, as well as the illegal circulation of such substances or poisonous substances), part 5, of the Criminal Code. The measures are currently being taken to identify those responsible for the abandoned drugs.

It is worth noting that earlier, during an operational raid in the Namangan region, the hidden drug warehouses had been uncovered.
