A new system aimed at enhancing the accountability of regional leaders has been introduced in Fergana. The announcement was made today, July 12, during a meeting in Quva chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, focusing on the priority tasks for the socio-economic development of the Fergana region.

Reports indicate that the regional hokim, along with each deputy and the 19 district and city hokims, will meet with at least five businessmen and foreign investors daily to address their issues.

It has been decided that weekly updates on the ongoing changes will be communicated to residents and businessmen via television and radio. At the end of the year, their activities will be reviewed, and necessary actions will be taken.

It was emphasized that the regional council deputies should establish a commission to oversee each issue.

It was highlighted that 340 billion soums have been allocated to 266 projects in Fergana under this year's "Initiative Budget." During the meeting, strong criticism was directed at the lack of practical work on many projects over the past three months.

This month, the "Initiative Budget" was directed to release funds from the regional budget that had not yet been distributed. It was noted that this will resolve issues related to electricity, gas, and roads in 35 neighborhoods.

Overall, to increase the funds available in district budgets, it was ordered to consider allocating half of the income tax from individuals to the district budget.
