Mentally ill boy maims his mother's fingers in Fergana

A mentally ill boy in Margilan, Fergana region, inflicted severe injuries on his mother and himself, according to the "Zamon" program.

Recently, a resident of Margilan observed deteriorations in her son's mental health. According to the mother, his condition worsened and he began hallucinating. She took him to the hospital multiple times for treatment. On the day of the incident, he attacked his mother, cutting her hands with scissors.

"There were vine shears in the yard because we were cutting grapes. He grabbed a pair and I couldn't stop him," said the mother.

After injuring his mother, the boy ran into the street with a knife. He traveled from Toshloq district to a market in Margilan city, where he then stabbed himself in the abdomen.

"He stabbed himself hard, with the knife penetrating about 7-8 centimeters into his stomach," reported a market vendor.

He fled the scene but was later found by doctors and staff on Mustaqillik Street in Margilan. Due to his critical condition, an emergency surgery was performed.

"The surgical team quickly operated on him because of a severe abdominal wound," said a doctor.

Paramedics managed to stop the bleeding. The boy's mental state remained unchanged; he refused to answer questions despite several attempts by a psychiatrist.

"I have diagnosed him with deep depression. After his general condition stabilizes, he will need to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital," stated the chief psychiatrist of Margilan City.

The mother, who sustained serious injuries to her face and hands, also underwent surgery.

"Both hands had the fifth and first fingers amputated. Due to her condition, surgery was performed urgently. Currently, her condition is stable," said a traumatologist.

According to the information service of DIA, a criminal case has been initiated against the young man under Article 104 (Deliberate Grievous Bodily Harm) Clause 2 of the Criminal Code, and preliminary investigations are underway.

Earlier, in the Qumqorgon District Court of Criminal Cases, a person was sentenced for stabbing his mother to death over an inheritance dispute.
