4328The driver who caused an accident and struck a schoolboy in Fergana has been sentenced to five years in prison. Aziz Obidov, the press secretary of the Supreme Court, announced this.
The incident occurred in the Furqat district of the Fergana region. The driver, attempting to overtake a Matiz car while driving a Lacetti at high speed, hit a minor school student walking by the side of the road. The student succumbed to severe injuries.
A criminal case was initiated against the driver, which was subsequently heard in the Furqat district court.
The court found the defendant guilty under part 2 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the violation of safety rules for the movement or use of vehicles. As a result, he was sentenced to five years in prison and banned from driving any vehicle for two years.
It is also worth noting that a previous accident in Tashkent involved BYD, Spark, and L9 vehicles.
