In the Fergana region, authorities have prevented the illegal sale of medicines valued at over 8 billion soums and medical equipment worth 400 million soums that lacked official quality guarantees. The State Security Service reported the incident.

According to the information, an urgent operation was carried out jointly by the Fergana Regional Department of the State Security Service and the regional customs department. As part of this operation, a Nexia-3 vehicle driven by a resident of Fergana born in 1986 was stopped and inspected in the Bagdad district. Inside the car, officials found 413 packages of medicines across 8 different types that did not meet quality standards.

Further inspections were conducted at two warehouses in the Bagdad district owned by the same individual. Authorities discovered 100,332 units of medicines spanning 60 varieties, all lacking proper certification. These medicines were documented in accordance with legal procedures.

The investigation continued in the city of Fergana, where 16,897 packages of 39 types of uncertified medicines were seized from another warehouse and registered as material evidence.

In total, authorities temporarily detained 117,642 units of uncertified medicines, with a preliminary estimated value of 8 billion 1 million 429 thousand soums.

Additional measures led to the discovery of three hidden warehouses in Margilan belonging to another individual born in 1992. These warehouses contained 30,000 pieces of medical equipment, including catheters, needles, tourniquets, electronic thermometers, and tonometers. The items, valued at 400 million soums, had been smuggled in from the Kyrgyz Republic using indirect routes. They were processed in line with the procedural requirements.

Officials stated that pre-investigation procedures are currently underway regarding both cases.

It is worth noting that earlier in the Tashkent region, authorities shut down a clandestine workshop producing nearly 600,000 counterfeit medicines.
