16254Uzbekistan national team head coach Temur Kapadze shared his thoughts at a press conference ahead of the match against Iran in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers (Group A, Round 8).
"An exciting match awaits us tomorrow. We know how strong Iran is, and we are aware of our own strengths as well. We have prepared well for this game. We are familiar with the Iranian national team and their domestic league. Since the two teams have faced each other multiple times, we already have considerable information about our opponents. Additionally, we gathered further insights from our players who compete in the Iranian league," Kapadze stated.
The coach also addressed comparisons between the current and previous generations of the Uzbekistan national team.
"I wouldn't compare generations—both the previous and current teams are strong. Right now, we are playing with our best squad, and we are close to achieving our goal," he said.
Kapadze also commented on the absence of Jaloliddin Masharipov and the uncertain participation of Oston Urunov.
"Masharipov and Urunov are important players for the national team, but this is football—we will fill their spots with other players. Oston is currently injured, but he is preparing for tomorrow’s match. We will assess his condition before deciding whether to include him in the lineup. Apart from that, the rest of the squad is fit and ready," the coach added.
For your information, the Iran-Uzbekistan match will kick off on March 25 at 21:00 Tashkent time at the "Azadi" Stadium in Tehran.
