2952The Cabinet of Ministers issued a new decision on October 28 to transfer control over vehicle weight and size on roads to the private sector, as part of a measure to improve the management of large and heavy vehicles on highways.
Key Points of the Decision:
- Establishment of Weighing Stations: Stationary and mobile stations equipped with modern measuring devices will be installed on highways to monitor weight and size. The private sector will operate these stations.
- Lease Terms: These stations will be leased to private entities for 20 years through online auctions, with options to transfer leases to other parties.
Auction Starting Prices:
- Highways of international importance: 50 times the BCA (Base Calculation Amount)
- State highways: 40 times the BCA
- Local highways: 30 times the BCA
Revenue from Fines: For the first two years, 40% of revenue from fines for violations recorded through these stations will go to the business entities’ accounts. This share will reduce to 30% afterward.
This decision officially took effect on October 31.
