Yesterday, on July 7, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law "On Amendments and Additions to the Law on the State Flag of Uzbekistan."

According to it, the cases in which the flag can be used have been expanded, including:

  • Displaying the flag and signs with its image in public places, buildings, places of residence or work, and in transport cabins.
  • Flying the flag at sports competitions, public, solemn, and cultural events, family holidays, commemorative dates, and funerals of important societal and state figures, as well as military personnel.
  • Using signs with the image of the flag to prepare sports clothing for international sports competitions and championships of Uzbekistan.

Additionally, the law clearly defines cases of disrespecting the flag, which include:

  • Using the flag and symbols with its image torn, soiled, punctured, discolored, or in any other inappropriate manner.
  • Using it as a cover for something.
  • Laying or depicting it on tables, seats, chairs, or using it as a covering or underfoot.
  • Using it as clothing, tablecloths, or bedding, or for storing and transporting things.
  • Printing signs with the image of the flag on shoes, tablecloths, bedclothes, underwear, towels, boxes (wrappings), disposable items, or any other item in a manner that is disrespectful.
  • The flag and signs with its image cannot be used contrary to the rules of etiquette and social behavior.
