In Uzbekistan, B1-level foreign language certificates will now also grant admission benefits for academic programs where a foreign language is designated as the first subject. This is stipulated in the regulation titled “Procedure for Compensating Accommodation Expenses in Student Dormitories of State Higher Education Institutions for Certain Categories of Students,” approved by a government resolution on January 28.

According to the regulation, admission to academic programs in which a foreign language is defined as the first subject in the subject combination will be carried out on the basis of a nationally or internationally recognized foreign language certificate at a minimum B1 level.

For admission to programs where a foreign language is included in the subject combination:

– applicants holding a nationally or internationally recognized B1-level certificate will be awarded 75 percent of the maximum score allocated for that subject;
– applicants holding a nationally or internationally recognized certificate at B2 level or higher will be awarded the full maximum score for that subject.

For reference, admission to these programs was previously carried out on the basis of nationally or internationally recognized certificates at a minimum B2 level.
