By the end of this year, international online payment systems, including PayPal, Alipay, UniPay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, will begin operating in Uzbekistan. This follows a decision adopted by the government.
As part of the plan, the Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Tourism Committee under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, will oversee the activities of both local and foreign car rental companies, such as Hertz, Avis, and Sixt, at the country's airports. Efforts will also be made to improve conditions for car rentals at railway stations.
Additionally, the Tourism Committee and the Ministry of Digital Technologies will develop a regional list of tourist destinations and facilities. This information will be integrated into international mapping services, such as Apple Maps and Google Maps, and regularly updated.
The Central Bank, alongside the Ministry of Digital Technologies and the Tourism Committee, is currently in talks with international payment companies like PayPal, Alipay, UniPay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. The aim is to incorporate these platforms into Uzbekistan’s payment systems and banking services. If needed, proposals to amend national legislation will be considered to facilitate this integration.
