In Tashkent, a monthly event called "Car-Free Day" is organized, where heads of state agencies commute to work using public transportation. This practice was established through a presidential decree by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, focusing on the implementation of the "Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy with a particular emphasis on youth and business support.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev endorsed a project proposed by members of the public and environmental activists with the goal of reducing car traffic for one working day in Tashkent to mitigate the adverse impact of vehicle emissions on the environment. Consequently, leaders and staff of all national and regional executive bodies located in Tashkent are now encouraged to commute using public transportation as a model.

Exceptions to the restrictions imposed on "Car-Free Day" include public transport, as well as special and emergency services.

Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Aziz Abduhakimov, Minister of Transport, Ilhom Mahkamov, and Acting Mayor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzoqov, are tasked with overseeing the enforcement of this provision.

It's worth noting that this decree also stipulates that starting from March 1, in the event of a dust storm causing an elevation in airborne particulate matter exceeding the standard levels, measures will be taken to alert the population.
